Tribute to Jeremy Parkes

Tribute to Jeremy Parkes

Jeremy joined Field Seymour Parkes as an Articled Clerk in 1993 via Reading University where he read history and then Guildford Law College.

He qualified into the corporate team which was then just three fee earners. He became a partner in 2000 and then finance partner before succeeding Philip Seymour as Managing Partner in April 2014.

Jeremy was instrumental in building the corporate team and Field Seymour Parkes into one of the leading independent firms in the Thames Valley and oversaw the firm joining Lawfront in April this year.

Jeremy had a passion for supporting and developing junior colleagues and was instrumental to the training and development of many of the partners and solicitors in FSP’s corporate team and other alumni who have gone on to build successful careers elsewhere.

Jeremy will be remembered as an outstanding pragmatic corporate lawyer complete with his sense of fun and wry smile. We have been immensely touched by all the messages we have received, each one a testament to the kindness and decency that Jeremy showed to those around him. He always put others before himself and established the Field Seymour Parkes Foundation in 2017 which supports local charities focussed on homelessness and poverty relief, mental health, children and young adults and physical health and disabilities. He was immensely proud of the funds raised by the Foundation and the local charities it supported since its inception.

Tragically Jeremy died in the John Radcliffe Hospital on 15 May 2026 suffering complications after a heart operation on 4 February 2026.

Jeremy is sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues and our wider business community.

There is a private family funeral this month but there will be a celebration of his life later in the Summer, details of which will be confirmed in due course.
